How to purchase a domain through Sellfy
It's quick and easy to purchase a domain name for your Sellfy store.
Follow these steps:
- In the sidebar, click Store settings>Domains.

Click Buy domain.
- Type and search for the domain name you'd like.

Make a selection.

Important! Please be certain of your domain choice before purchase, because it is not possible to return, exchange, or get a refund for your domain purchase.
- Wait up to 30 minutes for the domain connection.

Registrar information
A domain registrar is a necessary middleman for purchasing a domain. Since you aren't able to purchase domains directly from the central internet registry, a domain registrar purchases it for you and handles the technical aspects. They're responsible for ownership records, security, and DNS coordination.
Sellfy partners with Name.com, a reputable ICANN-accredited domain registrar. They ensure the domain you've purchased is secured in your name and that records are correctly set up across the internet.
DNS record changes
At this time, you can not make DNS record changes yourself.
But, please don't worry! If you need any changes made, contact [email protected]. We'd be happy to add TXT files, HTML files, or make other changes for you.
Domain subscription and refund policy
When purchasing, you'll see a Purchase price and a Renewal price. The Purchase price is charged when you first purchase. The Renewal price is automatically charged annually for however long you own the domain name.
If you no longer need the domain name, you can contact [email protected] to cancel your domain renewal.
Domain purchases are non-refundable because they are (technically speaking) instant and irreversible. The moment you buy a domain, Sellfy pays a non-reimbursable fee to the central registry to lock it down in your name for the year. That name now belongs to you!
This means you can leave Sellfy and use this domain name elsewhere if you choose. If you're considering this, please read the next section on Domain transfers.
Domain transfers
If you would like to use your purchased domain somewhere other than Sellfy, we can transfer this domain.
For the smoothest and fastest transfer, we'd recommend opening an account through Name.com. This is the registrar Sellfy partners with. A transfer between Name.com accounts is free, and your renewal date remains the same. We'll simply need to know your full Account ID.
This is the fastest option, because you can get around the 60-day transfer lock (enforced by ICANN). Typically, domains are not allowed to be transferred until it's been at least 60 days since purchase. But, if your account is within the same registrar (Name.com) then it can be transferred only 5 days after purchase.
If you want to transfer to another domain provider, check to see what costs are involved. The new registrar may charge you a fee.
