What is the Store Customizer?

The Store Customizer is a tool for designing your Sellfy store so that you can create a unique look and feel that best fits your brand and products. We recommend that you add products before customizing your store so that you can see what your store looks like with your products.

Note: Check out Sellfy's inbuilt Themes in the Store settings > Style settings to preview your store using different templates.

To access the store customizer, go to  Store settings > Customization > Customize store.

When you first access the customizer, it 'll look similar to what you see in the video. The main window shows the Home Page of your store, with its default settings. The sidebar menu on the left allows you to navigate between pages, add content and customize different store elements You'll see three main sections; Store settingsBuilt-in Pages and Custom Pages

You will use these three sections to edit and build out your Sellfy store.

Note: the main window (right) will correlate to the Page or Module that you are customizing using the sidebar tools.

Important! The Custom Code feature is not available during the trial period.

Built-in Pages

Your store is made up of Built-in and Custom Pages that consist of Modules (Page content). The built-in Pages make up the 5 foundational Pages of your store. Built-in Pages are customizable but cannot be deleted because they are essential to your store functioning properly.

Note: All Built-in Pages, Custom Pages and any new Pages that you create automatically contain the Navigation module (top) and the Footer module (bottom), by default.

There are a total of 5 built-in Pages:

  1. Home
  2. Product
  3. Category
  4. Checkout
  5. Confirmation
Clicking on any of the 5 built-in Pages takes you to the Page Settings of that particular Page. Here, you'll see content made up of Modules. By adding modules in the Page settings, you can add and customize the content that is shown on the Page.

Important! Pressing 'Publish' in the top right corner applies the changes you made to your store.

Home Page

The default settings of the Home Page include the following modules: Navigation, Hero block, Products, Newsletter form, and Footer. To customize this Page, you can edit, remove or add modules. To do this select the Home Page > click the pen icon of the module inside the Page settings you want to edit. Or click +Add module to add new content.

The Home Page can also be used for creating a Landing Page for your store.

Navigation module - Navigation is a universal module meaning any changes that you make to this module are applied across your entire store, on each Page.
To edit the Navigation module, click on the pen icon or select the Module on the Page (in the main window). You can edit the logo, size, color, border, alignment, and link Pages, Categories, custom URLs and more!
Footer module - the Footer lists all of your linked Store Pages, Categories, Products, and social profiles at the bottom of each Page. This module is locked meaning it cannot be moved to a different location on any Page. To edit the size, background color and other elements of the Footer module, click on the pen icon.

You can easily add Social links to connect your Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and other social media.

Product Page

The Product Page is where you customize what a single product Page looks like in your store. Here, you can add a container for the product card, edit the text color, and even add other modules like a Newsletter form or Text panel.

Category Page

If you created Product categories for your products, they'll be displayed in the navigation menu. Customers can click on categories in the menu bar to explore products assigned to each category. You may want to customize the look and feel of the Category Page and/or the way how products are displayed. The edits you make in the Category Page settings will apply to all the category pages

Checkout Page

The Checkout Page is where your customers enter their payment information to finalize a purchase. You can enable/disable different features for this Page, and further customize the Page by adding other modules.

Enable email subscription - enable the newsletter subscription box at checkout for collecting newsletter subscribers to send marketing campaigns, product updates, news, etc. If you're enabling this feature, make sure to comply with GDPR.

Note: If a customer didn't opt-in to receive your newsletters, they won't be included in your email marketing list on Sellfy, even if they bought a product.

Subscribe to emails by default - enabling this function automatically subscribes customers to your newsletter by ticking the email subscription box at checkout. Customers can uncheck the box manually if they don't wish to subscribe to your newsletter/receiving marketing updates from you.

Enable B2B checkout - enabling the B2B checkout option allows customers to enter a VAT/TAX ID to waive taxes when making a purchase. This is useful for those customers that have a business. If you don't have businesses purchasing from you, you can disable the feature.

Mandatory T&C agreement - If you enable this function, customers are required to tick the T&C checkbox before they can make a purchase.

Important! If you don't see the option to make agreeing to T&C mandatory for your store, check that the slug of the Terms Page is /terms. The URL slug for the T&C Page must be /terms to enable this function.

To do this:

  1. Open your Store Customizer
  2. Select the Checkout module and click the pen icon
  3. Scroll to Mandatory T&C agreement
  4. Turn the toggle switch (it will switch to green)
  5. Click Publish

Confirmation Page

After a customer has placed an order in your store, they are redirected to the Confirmation Page. Here, they can download the product files, request access to the order invoice and access Sellfy's help documentation to resolve download issues.

In the Page settings, you can change the background and text color, set a visual container for products, and add other modules! For example, you can add a Text panel to include a Thank you note, add instructions for accessing product files, or link to a feedback form.

How to use Modules

Modules are used to add content to your store Pages; they are the building blocks of each of your store Pages. The content you add to the modules for each Page is what customers will see when visiting your store. Each module allows you to add different types of content and you can add as many modules as you like. They appear in the order in which you add them but you have the option to shuffle them around. In total, there are six modules available to add to Pages.
To add a module:
  1. Choose a Page
  2. Select + Add module
  3. Select a new module to add

To replicate an existing module:

  1. Choose a Page
  2. Select + Add module
  3. Select Copy last module

To edit or delete an existing module:

  1. Select a module
  2. Click the 3 dot menu > Delete Module

Hero block module

This module allows you to use an image and text together in one block. You can add a background color if your image does not cover the entire block or use the Cover all or Repeated pattern to fill in the entire space. Enter a title and subtitle, edit the text color and align the text left, right or center.

You can add multiple Hero blocks to one Page.

Text panel module

This module is most useful for text and images, to create a unique Home Page or highlight information on any particular Page. Click Show container to see a different variation of using this module. You can also edit the background and container color.

To edit the font, go to General Settings > Global styles

Newsletter form module

Do you have a newsletter and/or want to create an email list? Add a newsletter form to invite store visitors to sign up for receiving news from you. Make sure to use an inviting and action-oriented title so customers feel more excited to opt-in.

Products module

Add the Products module on any Page that you want customers to be able to shop for your products. For example, you may want your home Page to be a dedicated landing Page for your brand story and exclude products from this Page.

If you are using product categories, these will be displayed at the top of the Products module. You can rearrange the order of categories by dragging and dropping them inside the module block.

Contact form module

It's important to give customers a way to connect with you and ask questions. We recommend adding a Contact form module or adding a Contact Page to your store.

You may want to customize the title of the Contact form to make it more personal.

Note: To delete a module, click on the pen icon of the module, then Delete module at the bottom of the settings.

Embed module

The Embed module can be used to add any custom code such as Javascript, HTML, and CSS to your Sellfy store. For example, if you'd like to add a video or Gif to one of your Pages, you'll use the embed module to copy-paste the embed code. If you're not familiar with code, you can find some basic help here to get you started.

To add some custom code, you'll need to go to your Store Customizer and then add the Embed module.

See an example of an embedded YouTube video below.

You can also embed a feed from Instagram, third-party chat, review tools, and much more!

In this store, you can see an example where a seller embedded an Instagram photo on the main store page.

The same seller also embedded their Spotify playlist on their store page. They linked the Button titled  Listen to their Spotify playlist. You can see what this could look like in the image below and in their store here

Custom Pages

By default, the store customizer includes 4 essential custom Pages; the Products Page, About Page, Contact Page and Terms Page.

Products Page

The Products Page is where all of your products are listed. Here, you can edit different elements:
  • Enable the Product categories menu
  • Customize the Page layout and card design (use the aspect ratio for uniform product cards)
  • Change the button style and price
  • Edit the discount tag (if you're offering a discount)

About Page

The About Page is great for introducing yourself, telling your story, company ethos and mission and vision. The About Page already includes a Text panel module where you can add text, images, links, and more. You can customize the About Page further by adding other modules to the Page.

Contact Page

It's important to give customers a way to connect with you and ask questions. The Contact Page includes the Contact form module and is linked in the Navigation on each Page.

You may want to customize the title of the Contact form to make it more personal.

Terms Page

The Terms and Conditions that you apply to your store are entirely up to you. The Store customizer includes a Terms Page where you can add T&Cs for your store. If you need to create a new Terms and Conditions Page for your store, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to your Store Customizer
  2. Select +Add Page
  3. Choose a Title and enter /terms for the URL slug
  4. Select +Add module > Text panel to add text
  5. Select Publish

Add a new Custom Page

Once you finished editing the Built-in and Custom Pages, you can further customize your store by creating new custom Pages and adding modules to each Page, to add more content to your store.

To create a new custom Page:

  1. Access the Store customizer, select the blue button + Add new Page
  2. Enter the Page title and the URL slug in the Page settings
  3. To add content to the Page, select + Add module
  4. When you've finished editing the Page, press Publish.

Note: The Navigation (top) and Footer (bottom) modules will automatically be added to each new Page.

To edit a Page later on, simply click the Page from your list on your Home Page.

How to get creative with the Store Customizer

It's easy to get creative with the store customizer giving your store a super unique look! A few ways to make your store stand out are:

  • create a Landing Page
  • use images for backgrounds (i.e. with a dark overlay)
  • embed a video or GIF
  • make a banner for announcing specials, free shipping, limited edition product launches, etc.
  • set up modules in an order to work together - for example, use the Text panel for making an announcement and the embed module to add a funny GIF below
  • embed a third-party chat on your store page using the custom code section

Below are a few examples of what you can do with the customizer.

Create a Landing Page

With the customizer, it's easy to create a Landing Page for your store. There are different ways to create a Landing Page, depending on what you want customers to see and experience when visiting your store.

To give the Home Page the look and feel of a Landing Page, you may exclude products from the Page and add a Hero block and Newsletter form, for instance. Or, you can choose to add more modules in the Page settings, such as a Text panel, or additional Hero Blocks with linked buttons.

Here you can see how to create a Landing Page with several Hero blocks containing images and linked buttons. You can link buttons to other Pages in your store, or add external links to your Youtube channel, for example.

Make a banner

Creating a banner for your Home Page (or another store Page) is a great way to let customers know about discount codes, special offers, new product releases, etc.

To make a banner, select the Page you want to add a banner for. Add the Text panel module and customize the text, background, size and location. See an example for making a banner below.

TIP: Using the Hero Block module allows you to add a clickable button to the banner (for linking to a product Page, Youtube video, etc.).

Using custom codes

The custom code section allows you to embed a number of different elements on your storefront. Some examples are:

  • an Instagram feed
  • a SoundCloud playlist
  • third-party service for showcasing customer reviews
  • a third-party chat application
  • dynamic images and texts (learn more here

Before you can add a custom code, you first need to get the code from the service or application that you wish to add to your store. Once you have the code, you can paste it into the Head code section.

You'll go the Store customizer > General settings > Custom code > paste the code > Publish.

How to add an image for social media sharing

You can post a link to your store on your social media accounts like Facebook and Twitter, for instance. To change the image that is shown when you share a post to social media, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Store Customizer
  2. Scroll to Custom Pages > click the pen icon of the Products Page
  3. Click Advanced settings > Upload image
  4. Publish
