Reviews are designed to allow your customers to rate and leave feedback about a product they purchased in your store. It's a great way to hear about your customers' experiences with your product, potentially boost sales and make your store look more professional.
- Product rating 1-5 (emojis)
- Customer name and date
- Customer comment
- Attachment (optional, i.e. an image of how they're using the product)
Keep in mind that positive reviews can help build trust and credibility and encourage store visitors to buy your products. Sharing positive product reviews and customer feedback with your audience may also help market products to new prospective buyers.
If you have the feature enabled for your store, reviews are displayed on the product page below the product description. See the image for an example:
How to manage reviews
Go to Reviews to set up and manage all elements of the feature.
Under 'Settings', enable/disable reviews for your store, decide if you want to publish reviews automatically or manually approve them, and whether reviews are visible in your store.
In the 'Review appearance' section, you can select from several different emojis that you want customers to use for rating products. On the right, you'll see a preview of the pop-up window.
This section also allows you to enable/disable images for reviews and customize the color of emojis using the 'Icon color' picker.
Where can customers leave a review?
Customers can leave a review on the Confirmation page, where they see the order details and download their product files (if the product is a digital purchase).
Each customer receives a Purchase email with a unique link that takes them directly to the confirmation page. They may rate the product right after purchasing or return to this page later on, after using the product, to write a review.
The option to leave a review is available instantly once the order is confirmed.
How do I collect customer reviews?
Customers may decide to leave a product review on their own. But you can also actively encourage customers to leave a review. Here are a few different ways that may help with collecting reviews for your product:
- Include a short note in the product description
- Add a prompt in the Purchase email
- Send an email campaign to new customers
- Ask your audience online
Include a short note in the product description
New prospective customers may read through the product description before they decide to buy the product. A short sentence at the bottom, such as "Let me know how you like this product if you buy it" or "I'd love to hear your feedback if you purchase the product" can already plant a small seed.
Add a prompt in the Purchase email
Purchase emails include a link to the Confirmation page (the place where customers leave a review) and land in the customer's inbox instantly after their order is confirmed. It's a great place to add a personal note with a witty prompt to ask customers for a product review.
Send an email campaign to new customers
Email may sound old school, however, research shows that email marketing is the best way to connect with your audience in a direct and personalized way. You can target specific segments (i.e., new customers) and, that way, deliver an intentional message.
Ask your audience online
Use a Facebook post or Instagram story to connect with your customers and ask them to leave a review. To boost engagement, you may add an incentive such as a shoutout, giveaway, etc.

Q: Does Sellfy send emails to ask customers to leave a review?
A: While Sellfy doesn't send automated emails to your customers for product reviews, you can create your own email campaign to encourage new customers to leave a review.
Q: Can I add customer testimonials from other platforms?
A: It's not possible to add reviews from other platforms through Sellfy directly or display them along with customer reviews submitted through Sellfy. But you can still show reviews you collected on other platforms in your Sellfy store using Store Pages.
